Jurassic World Rebirth: Quetzalcoatlus

Medium Pastel and Pastel Pencil on Black Paper
Size 8 x 6in
Date April 2025

Drawing of the Quetzalcoatlus from the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth, created with Prismacolor Nupastels and Faber-Castell pastel pencils on 8 x 6in Canson black paper.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about the design of the Quetzalcoatlus. Its representation in Jurassic World Dominion is anatomically accurate while still maintaining a general aesthetic that is consistent with its other pterosaur predecessors. In contrast to both the previous design and modern reconstructions, which depict a rounded crest at the crown of the head, Jurassic World Rebirth revises the crest so that it is more pointed and located toward the tip of the beak. Regardless, Quetzalcoatlus is an impressive animal, and I am excited to see it featured once more on the big screen.

As for the upcoming film, all I can say is...

Please be good! Please be good! Please be good!
