This represents the second piece that I've drawn from the same reference photograph. The first portrait was drawn in a more monochromatic style. But I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to recreate it as a full-color composition.

I rendered this piece in three stages. First, I sketched the form using Staedtler graphite pencil on 6 x 8in Strathmore toned tan paper. Then, I added highlights using a General's white charcoal pencil. Finally, I applied color using Faber-Castell pastel pencils and Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils.
